2020 Illinois Open Series Plan

Changes from the normal routine:

Registration will close Wednesday night before the event. No signups taken after the close of registration. There will be no day-of registration opportunities.

Cash CTPs and Aces will be done online ONLY.

We are not offering half-in this year.

Rather than divisional CTPs for Amateurs, we will have bonuses for hot round per card for second round.

As we need to limit registration numbers, we are also going to limit the divisions offered for our events.
Pro Divisions: MPO, MP50, FPO
Am Divisions: MA1-MA4, FA1-FA4, MA50. Only at some events will we run MA60.

Players will checkin no more than 20 minutes before your tee time.

Online scoring will be preferred, but paper scorecards will be available for those that prefer them. All course rules will only be available electronically. It is the players’ responsibility to have a copy of these with them. There will not be any paper copies at the course.

Players are responsible for their own food/drink. We will not be putting out water jugs this year.

Player meeting and tee times will be posted Friday night.

Mask up(date). Out of abundance of caution, we are asking all players to mask up 25′ around the tee areas, when approaching tournament operations, and in the merch area. You may remove your mask when throwing from the tee, but if it is not your turn to throw, masks will be required while waiting. With this, we will allow a single caddy for a player if they so desire. Caddies must also follow masking rules.

We will only do series trophies if we can run four events and we raise sufficient funds through the $2 50/50 CTPs.

We are discontinuing the club series points program.

Other recommendations for players from the PDGA:

2.3 Staff and Participant Best Practices

  1. Anyone who is in a high-risk category as noted by the Centers for Disease Control and PreventionEuropean Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, or similar country-specific agencies should not participate.
  2. Participants should not touch discs, bags, carts, or any other property belonging to another participant.
  3. Participants should bring and control their own food and water for the entire day
  4. If using a digital scorecard, the players in a group may agree on a single player to keep score electronically, or the digital scorecard should be virtually handed off to another player when it is their turn so they can use their own device whenever possible. Mobile devices should not be shared among players.
  5. If using paper scorecards is the only option, the players in a group should agree on a single person to keep score to prevent the passing of a scorecard from player to player.

Equipment Best Practices

  1. Players should consider uniquely marking their discs on both the top and the bottom of the discs, thereby helping to identify the owner of a disc without the need for someone to touch it to flip it over.
  2. Players should clear their disc from a target before another player putts out. A player should not putt into a target that already has another disc within it.
  3. Players should carefully remove their disc from a target and avoid touching any surface of the target while doing so.
  4. Once a disc has contacted a target, players should consider sanitizing their disc prior to subsequent use or placing it into their bag. The process of sanitizing equipment by a player must be done in a timely manner and not violate normal Excessive Time requirements found in 802.03 of the Official Rules of Disc Golf.
