Oswego 2018 Course Rules

General:

  • 2m rule is not in effect.
  • Users of the bike/walking path have the right of way.
  • Round 1 will be played from the short tees marked by the permanent sign post.
  • Round 2 will be played from the long tees which are marked with a white flag.
  • Hole 19 uses a carpet tee, hole 20 & 21 from the bike path. Same tee used both rounds.
  • Casual relief from poison ivy. Lie is nearest lie on line of play behind poison ivy.
  • Please stay off the bike path unless throwing.
  • If a throw does not change a player’s lie, that player throws again.
  • If a drop zone exists for a hole, it may be used for lost discs or abandoned throws.

Hole Specific:

Hole 1, 2, 18, 19: Railroad tracks are out of bounds. The first rail is the OB line.  There is a casual relief area covering the gravel rail bed. Mandatory relief must be taken to the edge of the gravel. A throw from the previous lie option is still available for discs that land OB over the tracks.

Hole 3: The fence line is the OB line.

Hole 4: (Applies to both short and long tee) The fence line is the OB line. The fence line is extended into the woods. On OB throws from the tee and drop zone only, the next lie shall be from the short tee (aka drop zone). There is a mando at tree with ribbon on it in front of the long tee. Disc must pass left of this tree. Drop Zone is the short tee. Abandoned throw and lost discs may also use the short tee as a drop zone.

Hole 5 Long: Logs are lying in the bottom of the ravine. These may be considered a playing surface if required.

Hole 6: Mando at tree with ribbon on it. Disc must pass to right of tree. Drop Zone is marked.

Hole 8 Long: If a player so desires, they may proceed directly to the short tee with a one throw penalty (i.e. Tee off from the short pad instead of the long pad, but start counting at 2).

Hole 12: Split Rail fence marks OB.

Hole 13: Split Rail fence marks OB. Bike path is not OB.

Hole 15: High grass on either side of the fairway is OB. A painted line marks the edge of the OB area and extends beyond the basket on the right side. The tall bushes near the basket on the left side are in bounds. The short tee is an optional drop zone for OB throws.

Hole 16: High grass on both sides of the fairway is a hazard area: play it from where it lies with a one throw penalty. Hazard area is marked with yellow paint. The fairway for hole 15 is also a hazard area.

Hole 17 Short: Mando at tree with ribbon on it. Discs must pass to right of tree. Drop Zone is marked. If it is unclear whether or not the mando was made, the benefit of the doubt goes to the thrower.

Hole 17 Long: Mando at tee sign with PVC pole. Discs must pass to right of pole. The short tee is the drop zone. The Mando tree for the short tee does not apply. Short tee may be used as a drop zone for lost discs or abandoned throw.

Hole 19: When teeing off, each group must honor the spotter out by the path for safety reasons. If a pedestrian/cyclist is hit, you will be DQ’d.  Round 1 uses the practice basket. For round 2 the basket is elevated near the short tee for hole 1. The near side of the paved bike path and the path itself are OB. OB discs from tee shots are not retrieved until a player’s lie is beyond the path. For OB throws from the tee, the next shot shall be attempted again from the tee with NO penalty. If a player fails to make it inbounds on their second throw, their third attempt will be from the marked drop zone WITH a penalty. From the drop zone and all other lies, normal OB relief applies.

Hole 20: On/Over Path is OB. In/Over creek is OB.

Hole 21: On/Over Path is OB. In/Over creek is OB. Mando at tree with ribbon on it. Discs must pass to left of tree. Rethrow with penalty if missed.
